Class 2 – Community Development & Presence

Objectives:

  • Community Development

  • Improve on presence

Class Focus:

  • Assist students who are struggling with a move or course (if any).

  • Learn the names of 2 students.

  • During free time:

    • Find a student who is working on something (warped wall, flip, etc…) and offer to give them a tip.

    • If you see a student not doing anything, go talk to them. Possibly encourage them to try something with you.

Homework:

  • Re-read page 4 of “Instructor Responsibilities” section about Community Development.

    • Did you utilize any technique in the list to use with students?  If so, what did you use?

    • Is there a social techniques you utilized that was not on the list? If so, what was it and why did you find it effective?

    • Is there anything you think you could have done better when engaging the students?

    • Did you feel comfortable engaging with a new person and learning their names? Why or why not?
